Security could be a major issue within the present-day world. Typically why advanced security frameworks are such critical apparatuses. It’s troublesome, be that as it may, to know where to begin. A great put is to get the essential contrasts between the systems.

The main aim of CCTV systems is to monitor and record what is going on within a specific location. Not all CCTV systems record or deliver data the same way. This is why the systems are classified into three types i.e. analog, IP, and digital CCTV systems. Let’s take a closer look at them.

Digital CCTV Camera System

These are Digital CCTV systems that have an allocation of more advanced highlights than analog frameworks. They can capture and record pictures carefully meaning that data does not need to be changed over.

It is a surveillance system that can be accessed through a personal computer and in some cases, even on a phone. It uses a multichannel video recording that uses advanced technology. This enables the system to provide high-quality videos and pictures.

Digital CCTV Video Surveillance

A unique aspect of multichannel video recording is that users can install several cameras on the system. The system is as large as the number of cameras installed on it. In other words, the system can be expanded by installing more cameras. The user can also view activities on all the cameras through a single monitor.

A Digital CCTV Camera System has Several Advantages

  • It is easy for analog users to switch to a digital system i.e. a simple upgrade is enough to make the switch.
  • The digital system can support a wide variety of different cameras.
  • The system is ideal for both monitoring and recording.

CCTV digital video camera price will vary based on many factors such as its unique features and the company that produces it.

Analog CCTV Camera System

These are CCTV systems that use analog technology to transmit pictures and videos. The cameras capture images and then the signals are sent through a coaxial cable to a DVR (Digital Video Recorder)

It’s the DVR that converts the images and video from analog to digital cctv system. It also compresses the files and stores them on a tape or hard drive.

To view the video, users need to ensure that the DVR is connected to a monitor. Alternatively, the video can be broadcast via an internal network over the internet using a router and modem.

Their main purpose is to record data. They generally aren’t able to be accessed for live streaming in most scenarios and this essentially makes them less suitable for live monitoring. However, because the data is recorded on digital tapes, they can be viewed easily.

The major disadvantages of analog CCTV systems are;

  • They aren’t suitable for those who need to monitor activities frequently throughout the day.
  • The picture qualities aren’t very good which may make identifying intruders or criminals a little difficult.
  • It records data on tapes that need to be changed daily. This means that if users forget to change the tapes, all the data for that day will be lost.

Despite its many setbacks, an analog CCTV camera price isn’t very high. The cost will vary from company to company.

IP CCTV Camera System

Often referred to as the security systems of the future, IP cameras are a type of digital surveillance cameras with some added features. It can convert audio and images and transmit them over an internet connection. This essentially means that multiple viewers can view all activity on the monitors in real-time.

This system is network-based and therefore allows users to monitor remotely or within a network. For this type of system, a network video recorder (NVR) is needed to record the data. It uses advanced IP cameras that produce high-quality images.

IP CCTV systems have several useful benefits including;

  • IP cameras are easy to install and require little maintenance.
  • They provide high-quality images
  • They offer a lot more flexibility and better performance.
  • The network can allow several users access to the videos and images in real-time.
  • IP cameras have better integration into a CCTV system than many other cameras within the market.

Which Is Better? – Difference Between Analog and Digital CCTV

There are many factors that users need to consider when choosing to install a security system.

1. Purpose

Many users install security systems to monitor activities going on within particular premises. In such cases, a digital camera-based system would be the better option. However, for a small or confined area with little activity, an analog system would be effective.

2. Installation

There is a huge difference in how the two systems are installed. Analog systems usually require a lot of wiring and are relatively difficult to install. Many Digital CCTV camera systems are wireless and are relatively easy to install.

Wrapping Up – Digital CCTV Camera System

Both digital and analog systems have useful benefits. Users need to choose either option based on their needs and preferences. Analog system owners can opt to switch to digital systems. The advantage of this is, that users don’t need to invest in a whole new system, they can simply upgrade their old one.
